When the SpiralTest services supported by ScriptGen are fully integrated into your Development Process, the QA results described by the following slides are very attainable

We welcome the opportunity to prove our claims by supporting your QA efforts

Perspective for the ROI slide:

  • The patch work existing site required a complete redesign and implementation.
  • 34 QA people were BUDGETED to support dramatically decreasing Time To Market for the site functionality and content changes occurring daily.
  • QA started with 9 people and purchased WinRunner for each but quickly realized they could NOT update the WinRunner tests fast enough to keep pace with the site changes.
  • All of the original QA people added value to the requirements clarification process and a few additional QA people were added.
  • Both Development and QA fully analyzed the business requirements!
  • Development wrote extremely clean code based upon complete documentation!
  • QA created fully automated tests in parallel with the development efforts!
  • The redesigned site was completely tested and pushed live 5 days after the first code drop to QA!

While Use Cases have proven to be the most effective way to clarify requirements, ScriptGen is NOT dependent upon any Requirement Analysis Process

Software tests must go through each design phase just like the software under test

Often an Excel document containing the Manual Test Steps is created and then the test must be transferred to a test automation expert for conversion into the language of the automated test tool

Currently SG generates QTP tests that can be pushed into Quality Center from HP via the SG Webservice. The QTP automated test can then be executed in unattended mode via normal QC functionality.

When a Step is added to the SG Script the information required for BOTH Manual and Automated Tests are generated at the same time. So there is NO transfer of a test from a manual tester to an automation expert!

This slide is reworked from the Rational Unified Process "V Diagram". The important message is that in order to author meaningful tests the textual descriptions of system requirements must be transformed into a set of Business Conditions / Expected System Behaviors that can be Verified! SG allows QA people to quickly convert the business logic of the use case analysis into test steps for the specific paths the user must take based upon the UI design.
